Silk Road Music, headed by Director Qiu Xia He, consists of a group of talented musicians who are renowned for incorporating elements of Asian culture into their performances – from intimate classical Chinese solos and duets to larger multicultural productions.
Enriching the British Columbia music scene since its inception in 1991, Juno nominated Silk Road Music has had the opportunity to encounter and collaborate with a wide diversity of brilliant artists. The impact of exposure to international musicians has been a gradual fusing of traditional Chinese music with international cultures. Silk Road Music incorporates elements of Irish, Brazilian, Flamenco, Blues, Western contemporary and jazz music styles into its performances.
