RANGE Magazine is a Vancouver-based national music publication founded in June 2021 by Glenn Alderson who comes from more than 15 years working in the music industry as both a musician and the founder of BeatRoute Media.
As a national publication with both print and digital components, RANGE is committed to amplifying new voices in music, while also celebrating artists that readers already know and love. In the last year RANGE has featured more than 300 Canadian artists, including BC-focused cover features on Indigenous hip-hop duo Snotty Nose Rez Kids and rising R&B songwriter Mauvey who recently signed to 604 Records (Nickleback, Carly Rae Jepsen).
Tapping into the rhythm of pop culture, RANGE offers a unique editorial platform that is committed to lifting-up marginalized and underrepresented communities through an underlying practice written into their editorial playbook called #ROAR (Reach Out and Represent). Through #ROAR, RANGE actively offers paid freelance work to BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ writers and photographers to cover BIPOC and LGBTQ2+ content through their unique lens.
With an experienced team of diverse cultural curators, writers, and editors, RANGE is distilling content and telling the stories that matter most. New content is published daily via readrange.com.
With an eye towards community engagement, RANGE Magazine has also been a media partner for events such as Pop Montreal, Sled Island, the Vancouver International Film Festival, The Calgary International Film Festival, Verboden Festival, The Calgary Underground Film Festival, and One Yellow Rabbit’s High Performance Rodeo. In March 2022 RANGE will be hosting its debut international SXSW showcase featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop and R&B across Canada.
The RANGE Magazine SXSW showcase is on Thursday March 17 in Austin, TX featuring Polaris Music Prize winner Haviah Mighty, Snotty Nose Rez Kids (BC), Cartel Madras, Just John, Aqyila, and Mauvey (BC).
Stay tuned for a print edition launch in Spring 2022.
