Celebrate Persian New Year with Two Apples

Bahram Javahery’s new animation TWO APPLES is now streaming on nfb.ca to mark the upcoming Persian New Year (March 19).

TWO APPLES is the fictional story of a young woman who immigrates from Iran to Canada and brings a Sêva mêxekrêj (clove apple) along as a symbol of cultural exchange and peace.

The style of the film is magical futurism, and the animation technique is a unique form of carved relief stop-motion, working with slabs of clay.

Born and raised in Sanandaj, the most important Kurdish city in Iran, Bahram studied and worked in Tehran before moving to Canada. He now resides in Coquitlam, British Columbia.

TWO APPLES is available for screening across Canada.
