Over the last year, we have reinforced the ways that we excel together, virtually rallying to work creatively on a way forward. The forced pause precipitated challenges and solutions; it also created space for sectors to refocus and redirect energy into key priorities that are leading to a stronger, healthier, more balanced and representative creative/creator workforce in British Columbia.

Creative Industries Week 2021

Entering its 6th annual Creative Industries Week, B.C. celebrates and recognizes the province’s five creative industries: book publishing, interactive and digital media, magazine publishing, motion picture, and music and sound recording. B.C.’s creative industries do not operate in silos but converge on many common grounds to catalyze opportunities across industries and creators.

At a time when we have been faced with many unique challenges and disruptions, this week will shine a light on the resiliency and collaborative strength of the province’s creative sector — from the past years and into the future. From April 12th to April 16th, join creative sector leaders, creators and associations as they showcase each industry and its integral role in building B.C.’s thriving creative economy and industry both locally and globally.

This Creative Industries Week, the creative sector will: showcase B.C.’s agile and resilient creative sector as we collectively emerge from the extraordinary and challenging circumstances of the global pandemic; recognize the innovative industries and how 2020 created space for sectors to refocus and redirect energy into key priorities that are leading to a stronger, healthier, more balanced and representative creative/creator workforce in B.C.; increase awareness and understanding across B.C. of the creative industries, and their growing contributions to B.C.’s economy; unite the creative industries in the co-creation of an inter-industry showcase; and provide the Province of B.C. and the public with a direct opportunity for engagement and connection with the creative industries at a time of unprecedented opportunity and innovation.
