Trickfilm Entertainment Inc. is thrilled to announce the launch of the World’s first real-time animation festival, a celebration of animated films created and broadcast using EPIC Games’ Unreal Engine. Submissions for the festival open on February 24th, 2023, and the festival itself will run from October 13th to October 22nd, 2023.
The Trickfilm Real-Time Animation Festival is a great opportunity for filmmakers to explore the limitless possibilities of Unreal Engine for animation production and distribution and to showcase their work in front of a global audience. The festival audience will be able to engage and interact with animated content like never before and experience animation in a whole new way!
The films in this festival will be distributed in real-time, they will broadcast to the audience as they are being rendered. This allows the viewer to customize a character’s appearance, for example, or to determine the outcome of the story. Through Trickfilm’s ground-breaking real-time distribution technology, there is no limit to the creative possibilities.

The Trickfilm Real-Time Animation Festival is open to submissions from animators and filmmakers of all levels of experience. Entries must be created using Unreal Engine and ready for broadcast in real-time. The festival welcomes all genres and styles of animation. Selected films will be screened on the Trickfilm platform during the festival, and a panel of judges will award a CA$5000 prize for the “Best In Show”.
