A Hockey Tale Like No Other

OVERTIME unfolds the inspiring story of Kelley Lee Gilmore, a remarkable 60-year-old woman who wears many hats – mother, wife, Ph.D. doctor, university professor, and hockey player. For Kelley, hockey is not just a pastime; it’s a calling. As she gears up to compete at the national level for Team BC Wolfpack in the upcoming Canada 55+ Games in Kamloops, the documentary delves into her transformative journey.

Breaking Barriers

Directed by Jenny Lee-Gilmore, OVERTIME sheds light on Kelley’s challenges as a Chinese-Canadian woman navigating the male-dominated world of hockey. Facing gender and racial barriers, Kelley reflects on her relentless pursuit of dreams in a sport she loves. The film not only celebrates the passion of a woman in the hockey arena but also explores the profound impact of the sport on the relationship between a mother and daughter.

A Filmmaker’s Vision

Jenny Lee-Gilmore, a British-born Chinese-Caucasian actor and filmmaker based in Vancouver, brings her unique perspective to the screen. A graduate of the University of British Columbia’s Film Production program, Lee-Gilmore is dedicated to telling female-centric and Asian Canadian stories often overlooked by mainstream media. Her debut short film, Breakaway, garnered attention across North America and is now in development as a YA series.

Behind the Scenes

OVERTIME was not only a labor of love for Lee-Gilmore but also a collaborative effort. Produced by Mike Johnston and co-Produced by Andy Alvarez, Diana Parry, and Martin Calvo, the documentary boasts the expertise of Director of Photography Diana Parry and Editor Anna Chiyeko Shannon. Executive Producers Kathleen S. Jayme, Jenny Lee-Gilmore, and Mike Johnston ensure the film’s success, and TELUS Production Executive Ken Tsui played a crucial role in bringing the project to life.
