Playback, a Canadian trade publication covering production, broadcasting, and interactive media, has unveiled its Best of the Year List, spotlighting outstanding talents and companies from across Canada. In the 2023 iteration of the list, B.C.’s Lark Productions has earned the esteemed title of Production Company of the Year in acknowledgment of their exceptional contributions!

Lark Productions is a prominent film and television production company known for its diverse storytelling and innovative content. Founded in Vancouver in 2010, Lark Productions specializes in the development of both scripted and unscripted content. Notably, the company frequently collaborates with Universal International Studios (as they are minority shareholders of Lark Productions), a division of the Universal Studio Group, leveraging new opportunities to bring Canadian projects to a global audience. This collaboration has given rise to productions such as LAW & ORDER TORONTO: CRIMINAL INTENT, THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF TORONTO and THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER.

In a notable feat this year, Lark Productions distinguished themselves by securing series placements on four major Canadian broadcasters. This includes CBC’s ALLEGIANCE and Citytv’s LAW & ORDER TORONTO: CRIMINAL INTENT. They also achieved a second season for CTV’s reality series FARMING FOR LOVE, and the production of a third season of FAMILY LAW for Global, showcasing their adeptness in navigating and thriving across diverse television networks.

One of the primary objectives at Lark Productions is to collaborate with local talent and contribute to the growth of the Canadian production industry. A distinctive feature that attracts crew members to engage in their productions is their objective to film in locations where the show is set in. In the series ALLEGIANCE, Lark ensures to film “Surrey for Surrey,” in FAMILY LAW, to film “Vancouver for Vancouver”, and in the unscripted series FARMING FOR LOVE, it features the farmers and their hometowns of B.C. Additionally, with the influx of their shows being picked up, it has served as a substantial boon for crew members in the area.

Join us in extending our congratulations to Lark Productions for their remarkable achievement in the production industry!
