Gender Equity in Media Society (GEMS) has announced the 10 participants and their projects for the second round of its Emerging TV Producers Program (ETVP).
GEMS Vancouver, formerly known as Women in Film and Television Vancouver, launched the program in 2022 as an initiative aimed at providing B.C.-based women and gender diverse creators with a launchpad for their careers in the Canadian television industry. The program is divided into two phases.
In the first phase of the program participants will attend an in-person five-day workshop in Vancouver from September 22-26, 2023 where they will learn how to navigate funding applications, budgets and pitching and make industry connections.
Phase two runs from September to December 2023 and will see the participants work with a mentor to package their projects for development funding and/or industry markets.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Canada Media Fund, BC Arts Council, and Warner Access Canada, this year’s ETVP Program promises to be an incredibly valuable opportunity for our selected participants. B.C. has no shortage of talent and stories, and GEMS is proud to support these 10 emerging producers in working towards their first narrative series productions,” said Anaïsa Visser, executive director, GEMS, in a statement.

“I came into this program with just a script and a pitch deck. Now I have a full project about to be pitched to streamers by a large production company,” says RaeAnne Boon, 2022 ETVP participant. “My project’s success is 100% owed to this program. GEMS changed my life and gave me so much, I can’t even articulate it all. All I can say is thank you.”
