Since its establishment in 2007, the Screen BC Short Film Award (formerly the MPPIA Short Film Award) has become a cornerstone program for developing directing talent in British Columbia’s film industry. The award was founded to recognize and celebrate the contribution of film and television to the province.

To date, 75 BC filmmakers have participated in the pitch competition from hundreds of applications, resulting in 15 signature short films that have gone on to screen at Whistler Film Festival.

The annual award is made possible through support from British Columbia’s motion picture production community.
