Celebrate British Columbia’s Creative Sector!
April 22 – April 26, 2024
Creative Industries Week is an annual celebration of British Columbia’s dynamic creative sector. Now in its ninth year, it takes place during the week of April 22, 2024, to bring industry associations, key stakeholders, and creators together with the government for a showcase event at the Legislature’s Rotunda.
Within our province, a myriad of diverse and talented storytellers, creators, and companies deliver entertaining content to for the world to enjoy, across five industries: interactive + digital media, motion picture, music + sound recording, and the book and magazine publishing industries.
B.C. is home to the second-largest English-language book publishing sector in Canada. It hosts the largest foreign motion picture production hub in Canada, and the fourth-largest full-service centre for motion picture production in North America. Its interactive and digital media industry is one of the most dynamic engines in the B.C. economy, and a key driver of skilled jobs that will define the future of the province. B.C.’s music and sound recording industry plays an integral role within the creative sector, threading the sector together through its soundtracks, stages, and synergies with film, TV, and digital media. Together, these industries shape culture, foster innovation, and bolster the economy.
