MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS has several Canadian ties, including an almost exclusively Canadian soundtrack. Its first season features numerous musicians based in British Columbia that contributed their songs to the coming-of-age story.
MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS is based on Ali Novak’s 2014 novel of the same name, which was originally published on Wattpad. The series follows 15-year-old Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she relocates from Manhattan to rural Colorado after the unexpected death of her parents and sister. Taken in by her mother’s best friend, Jackie finds herself having to navigate a whole new world, including a household of nine brothers and one sister, her goal of getting into Princeton, and a love triangle with two of the brothers.
Amongst the many B.C.-based musicians featured on the soundtrack are Vancouver band Hyaenas, with two songs: “Written in the Stars” and “For the Birds”. Hannah Georgas graced the soundtrack with “All I Need”, and Jody Glenham was featured with “Talking Out Loud”.
Here are the rest of the B.C. artists whose songs can be heard on the first season’s soundtrack:
