The 2026 Golden Globes nominations have been announced! Often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” the Golden Globes is one of the largest awards shows in the world, celebrating the best in both film and television.

The Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, January 11, 2025. Below is the list of nominations for the 83rd Annual Golden Globes featuring productions shot in B.C., involving B.C. studios, or starring B.C. actors:

Netflix’s KPOP DEMON HUNTERS is a true global cultural moment, having amassed more than 236 million views worldwide on Netflix and becoming the platform’s most watched film ever. At the heart of this achievement is the animation, led by Sony Pictures Imageworks at its Vancouver and Montreal studios. Under the guidance of animation head Josh Beveridge, the team developed a distinctive visual language that combined the energy of K-dramas and music videos with the fluidity of anime-inspired design. From the way light and color mimic a live concert to the attention given to authentic Korean expressions and gestures, Imageworks brought a level of care and artistry that grounded the film’s fantastical story in cultural detail.

Directed by Benny Safdie and starring Dwayne Johnson, THE SMASHING MACHINE is the story of legendary mixed-martial arts and UFC champion Mark Kerr. The film was partially shot in various Vancouver locations in 2024, including the Lions MMA gym, Rogers Arena (transformed into the Tokyo Dome entrance), and Pacific Coliseum, which stands in for a Pride Fighting Championship ring. Hundreds of local background actors can be spotted attending the Championship scenes.

The first episode of BLACK MIRROR’s 7th season, “Common People” was filmed in Vancouver and Surrey, B.C. The episode follows a medical emergency that leaves schoolteacher Amanda fighting for her life. Her desperate husband signs her up for Rivermind, a high-tech system that will keep her alive, but at a high cost. Queen Elizabeth Elementary School served as the school where Amanda teaches, while North Vancouver’s Allied Shipyards stand in for Mike’s construction site workplace. Surrey’s Shannon Hall, Surrey Civic Plaza, and other local spots feature in the episode as well.

Vancouver-born actor/comedian/filmmaker Seth Rogen was nominated for his leading role on THE STUDIO, following a legacy Hollywood movie studio striving to survive in a world where it is increasingly difficult for art and business to live together. Seth Rogen has a strong connection to his hometown, which has been featured prominently in his work, and is one of the city’s most renowned actors.

Bella Ramsey (THE LAST OF US)

Bella Ramsey received a nomination as well for her role on the B.C.-filmed second season of THE LAST OF US. The season was extensively filmed in B.C., using locations like Nanaimo, Kamloops, Vancouver, Britannia Beach, and more, transforming these areas into a post-apocalyptic Seattle and other settings. The town of Jackson, one of the season’s primary locations, was custom built in Minaty Bay and features a massive set, the equivalent of two full city blocks with cross streets and 45 buildings.
