The Golden Globes will air live on Sunday, January 5, 2025, often referred to as “Hollywood’s Party of the Year,” the Golden Globes is one of the largest awards shows in the world, celebrating the best in both film and television.

Below is the list of nominations for the 82nd Annual Golden Globes featuring productions shot in B.C., involving B.C. studios, or starring B.C. actors:

Best Television Series – Drama: SHŌGUN (FX/HULU) *WINNER

Filmed in Vancouver, Port Moody, Coquitlam, and Ucluelet, the FX series SHŌGUN is a historical television drama based on the novel by James Clavell that premiered in February 2024. The series broke records at the Emmy Awards, earning 19 wins and 25 nominations, including Best Drama Series—the most wins ever for a show in a single season.

Best Motion Picture – Animated: MOANA 2 (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)

Created in part by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures’ Vancouver team, MOANA 2 premiered last November, three years after her first voyage. This time, Moana sets sail beyond Motunui in search of new lands and allies.

Cinematic and Box Office Achievement: DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)

Partially filmed at Vancouver Film Studios, DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE features the stunning downtown Vancouver skyline and the scenic English Bay as backdrops. Vancouver-born actor Ryan Reynolds stars as the irreverent and self-aware antihero, Wade Wilson, in the film.

Best Motion Picture – Drama: DUNE: PART TWO (Warner Bros. Pictures)

DUNE: PART TWO explores the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. DNEG’s Vancouver office played a key role in creating the VFX for this production.

Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama: Pamela Anderson (THE LAST SHOWGIRL)

THE LAST SHOWGIRL stars Pamela Anderson, a B.C.-born and based actress, as Shelly—a glamorous showgirl forced to plan for her future after her show abruptly ends following a 30-year run.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy: Gabriel Labelle (SATURDAY NIGHT)

Directed by Jason Reitman, this film showcases the creation of the first-ever episode of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. Vancouver-born actor Gabriel LaBelle takes the lead role, portraying “SNL” creator and producer Lorne Michaels.

Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy: Hugh Grant (HERETIC)

Filmed last fall right here in British Columbia, A24’s HERETIC is a chilling B.C.-made thriller starring Hugh Grant. The film follows a young woman who risks her life and relationships in an attempt to communicate with her deceased mother using supernatural means.

Best Motion Picture – Drama: CONCLAVE (Focus Features) 

Based on Robert Harris’s 2016 novel, CONCLAVE explores the political and spiritual complexities of electing a new pope and features Vancouver-based actor, Carlos Diehz, who plays a Mexican cardinal.
