Mediacon Summit Vancouver

The inaugural Summit will take place on 9th of November at Pan Pacific Hotel and Various Locations though-out the city. Mediacon will encompass a High-level Daytime Summit & Market focusing on The Future of the Canadian Television and Content Industry and International financing and co-production .

Creative BC Vice President, Robert Wong will be a speaking on the subject of what’s next for Canadian Television Content and the Content Industries both in Canada and Globally.

The Evening of the 9th of November will see the Inaugural Mediacon Canadian Television Dinner take place. This will be a Gala Dinner celebrating Canadian Contribution to Global Television and Content and will honour a Canadian individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the world of Global Television.

Enterprising Culture

For the first time ever—in Vancouver on November 2nd and 3rd, 2017, at the Centre for Digital Media and the Emily Carr University for Art + Design, high-level Canadian and French influencers in the creative and cultural sectors will discuss the economic, cultural, and social impact of immersive technologies in their industries. Enterprising Culture is an international meeting that provides opportunities for unique discussions and exchanges between Canadian and French stakeholders and start-ups from the worlds of culture, creative, and media industries.

This edition focuses on start-ups and companies working in Immersive Technologies (VR/AR,  MR, 3D display, Holographic experience, etc) with a program designed to showcase new digital technologies (hardwares and softwares) and innovative content producers from both countries for two days of conversation, panel discussions, presentations and demos.

Dancing Line Productions


Dancing Line Productions is an award-winning animation studio based in Vancouver, Canada, and lead by Anik Rosenblum, their Creative Director, and Owner. Dancing Line specializes in creative high-quality 2D animations for small scale productions: TV commercials, promotional, educational and music videos using traditional hand-drawn technique.

Dancing Line Production was founded in 2008 by director/ animator Anik Rosenblum, who after working on a number of large productions, recognized he had a desire to do something more fresh and creative and was looking to create opportunities to explore a variety of styles and techniques. The Dancing Line team is always trying new ideas, and continuously looking to find effective visual ways to deliver a message, and create expressive movement that generates emotion through their animation. One of their pieces has received well over 10 million views, which had made them feel truly appreciated and valued in the world of animation.

Currently they are focusing on completing animation for a national TV campaign for a Toronto based company.

Rob Davies, Director of Development at Atomic Cartoons

The studio was founded in early 1999 by four animation artists: Trevor Bentley, Mauro Casalese, Olaf Miller, and Rob Davies. Atomic Cartoons came about by being at the right place at the right time.

Rob was working at Warner Bros TV Animation in Los Angeles in 1998 when a fellow director asked him if he knew of any animation studios in Vancouver that might be interested in taking on the pre-production of 26 episodes of a series. Rob’s three-year contract was coming to an end at Warner Bros, so with the 26 episodes in hand- he spoke with Trevor, Mauro, and Olaf and they decided to literally open a studio to accommodate the production. The four of them, with help from Mauro’s wife, Nancy, as production manager, literally did all the work themselves for the first month until they received their first cheque from the client. It was then that they were able to hire some actual staff and spread the workload out! That particular production opened the doors to many gigs from there on out.

In 2004 Atomic Cartoons co-produced their own series, Atomic Betty which ended up airing in 120 countries and ran for three seasons. The series was based on a female protagonist, Atomic Betty, named of course after the studio, and still remains the “studio mascot”.

In 2010, Olaf exited and Rob Simmons joined the company as a partner and missing piece to complete the Atomic team. In 2012, Jenn McCarron (who is now company president) joined the Atomic Cartoons executive team, bringing with her extensive production experience (and incredible people skills) and knowledge of the CGI pipeline and processes. With crucial key people in place, the studio was able to expand to the size and scale you see today.

As a studio, Atomic has been nominated numerous times for Leo Awards, Gemini Awards, and even a British Academy Award.

Recently they won at the 2017 Daytime Emmy Awards with their preschool co-production, Beat Bugs, and picked up a win at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.

The word “Bardel” comes from the names of its founders, Barry Ward and Delna Bhesania. Founded in 1987 and with over 13 awards credited to the name, Bardel is the leading animation service provider in North America. With over 30 years of creativity within the entertainment industry, Delna and Barry have forged long-term working relationships with some of Canada’s top creative talent and with international clients and partners.

Most recently Bardel has partnered with Italy’s Rainbow, who acquired them in 2015 to bring series 44 Cats to life. 44 Cats, currently in production, has taken a popular Italian song and adapted it into a series. The 52 x 11-minute animation series follows a group of felines that act like humans when no actual humans are around. True to its musical roots, pop-rock songs will be employed to help teach preschoolers tolerance, diversity and social-emotional skills, and will premiere in the fall of 2018.


Mythical City Games & LNG Studios Collaborate to Create a VR Experience Like No Other!

Vancouver based companies, Mythical City Games, an indie VR video game developer, and LNG Studios, a video production company, have collaborated to create a VR experience unlike anything else in the VR market today! If you are a fan of Simcity and VR, you will definitely want to checkout Skytropolis, a new vertical mega city building game where players must balance an economy and sustainability.

An early creator of VR content, Mythical City Games is pushing the frontier of VR development by designing multi-platform immersive experiences for both internal and external IPs. Some of their most notable titles include, Snow Fortress, Battle Fleet and Tippy Tree.

The collaboration between Mythical City Games and LNG Studios was a natural one, as LNG Studios is a leading creative visualization agency specializing in virtual reality, architecture and more recently even real estate. LNG Studios is truly an expert in the VR realm and was one of the early adopters of VR, making the leap from traditional 3D rendering.

Skytropolis is set to be released on November 2nd on Steam for the Rift and Vive, as well as PC (non-VR)
